Bienvenidos a Agkamai-F5

Monday, May 2nd, 2005

As usual I forgot of everything, for the people who can understand English and not Spanish, here is an alternative for you.

To-do list for the new version

Monday, December 6th, 2004

This is the public list of what I need to get done for this new version of the site:

  • Fix the Time Since plug-in, apparently this bug is persisting and doesn’t want to leave
  • Arrange the Blogrolling list, make separate sections, and display them ordered by last update.
  • Fix the contact form, apparently WP doesn’t seem to like my PHP
  • Check overall markup, there are some missing stuff there
  • Fix IE error displays, if you take a look in this page with IE, you will have a very nice surprise, but i need to fix it, in order to make it look good.
  • I guess, I will need a link section, there are people expecting me for linking them…

And I guess this is everything I need. If you detect something else, please leave a comment in this post and I will see how to get it sorted out.

Revisit is here

Saturday, December 4th, 2004

Insert full text here, now i need to do an essay about this layout, and since it’s fresh yet, give me a couple of hours to explain what’s going on here. The About, Archives and Blogrolling sections, will be up in the next few days, so, don’t worry, the important thing is, Revisit it’s alive and kicking up.

What’s next on agkamai.com?

Wednesday, December 1st, 2004

So, probably many of you are you asking about these last spanish posts. Let me tell you something, these last 4 months, 70% of my visitors are from different parts of Latin-America, and I’m practically losing the Spain audience, and the beggining this blog was focused to be an english-only blog, and apparently, this blog is more enjoyed in the spanish language, that in the english one. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the posts in english are going away to discontinue, on the contrary, it will lower a little the affluence of posts in this language, and consequently, the one of posts in spanish are going to increase a little.

Concerning about the layout, nobody liked the green one, and as you can see on a previous post, this layout is going to change again, and yes, this time it lasted around 3 months, not like my insanely feeling to change it every 7 days I had in September. With the release of “Revisit“:http://agkamai.com/archives/166/revisit/ you will notice a lot of changes in the structure of the blog and some new features that I will not reveal until it’s totally done and totally functional, not like the last time I rushed everything and at the end, nobody liked.

The blog will continue, don’t worry, there is still left too much agkamai to give :D

New layout for this winter

Re-Building

Saturday, October 30th, 2004

I’m starting over, again, so expect a new look on this site… now that is properly working, I just need a couple of days to finish the new look. Apparently nobody liked the new green layout, and not to mention it looks horrible on IE5, damn you IE! damn you MS!, but it will fixed, it will fixed.

Everything here now it’s in order, I want to thank “Weymaster”:http://weymaster.com.mx again for providing the space for the temp blog. So here we are, back in bussiness, working out and more stuff.

As you noticed, there is a new kind of post named Daily Links, those ones are powered by my “del.icio.us”:http://del.icio.us “account”:http://del.icio.us/agk a total and shameless rip from “ALT1040’s links”:http://alt1040.com/archivo/categorias/1040_links/index.php. This post are generated automatically, so I just add some links and the little script stored on this server will make charge of the rest of the fetching/organizing/posting, i just got tired to access everytime i need to post a new link to this administrator, i just add something with a bookmark, add information, tags, and we’re ready. So enjoy this nifty feature, hope you like it.

So I guess that’s all for today, I’m going to assist to that express “reunion of bloggers”:http://www.isopixel.net/archives/002086.html and we’ll see how it goes. And I guess, again I’m going to use “Flickr”:http://flickr.com to organize and make a pool of pictures on there, so, expect a couple of photos in there, the details of the reunion will be posted here tomorrow or at least my version of the details, anyways, have a nice Halloween.

The new face of agkamai.com revisited

You might notice some weird stuff happening in this site lately, and you can notice the layout is gone, let me explain you what just happened (more…)

MT 3.1 Pfff

Friday, September 3rd, 2004

Well these days i’ve been trying this blogging system, that everybody thinks is the greatest. Oh well, this has been a purely deception, and of course it has features that actually Wordpress already has them since 2 or 3 months ago, like the dynamic publication (which also Textpattern has), sub-categories (which both, WP and TXP has), future publishing, so if you are absent for… i dunno 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, you can write some articles and then you can configure them to publish on a particular date, so your blog doesn’t look very alone in your absent time (WP has this feature only).

First of all, is not that easy to configure that dynamic publishing, you have to configure each template you’re using for your archives, so if you missed something in any template, you’re screwed. Of course it’s a requirement to have mod_rewrite, thing that doesn’t happens with WP or TXP, where you’re not forced to use it if in your host is not enabled. So if you don’t have mod_rewrite, sorry, you have to use static publishing and rebuild everything when you’re changing something.

The comment system, in just one word, is ssssssslow.

And some sort of weird glitches for example when you’re using dynamic publishing, the archives doesn’t seem to exist sometimes and sometimes they exist, very weird.

And i can’t see the PHP support on this, i can’t see it, i’m sorry if i look so damn ignorant, but where is it? i can’t see it seriously. And yeah i pretend to be a total ignorant when i’m using a new piece of software just to see how easy is to use it.

So, there will not be a switch to MT3.1 since it’s basically the same with some bloated features and sometimes a little slow, so lets wait until the Six Apart guys give us an explanation on this or something, that tends to happen with this people, but whatever…

UPDATE Like always, this guys are really quick, there’s available a bug fix for all this issues we had

Mozilla.org redesigns

Wednesday, September 1st, 2004

So this morning i checked the homepage of Mozilla and i see the beta-design is now there on the main page, but with some improvements. In fact i kinda like this new one more than the last one. Why don’t you go check and make your own opinion about….

agkamai.com for this September

Tuesday, August 10th, 2004

Well i got another plans on this site, and re-start to write again on Spanish just for fun, but this time the Spanish are going to be like a secondary language, so don’t expect so much posts on Spanish, since many people is bugging me to write again on this language i don’t have another choice than doing it, so expect content in this language.

Another point on this changelog i’m putting online is the fact to make more cross-browser this site, apparently my experiment of just making an anti-ie site worked, my stats indicates me that the 53.7% of my visitors use Firefox and the 35.6% just uses Internet Explorer just on July 2004, compared with another months where the average of use was, from IE of 60% and FF of 29.5%. Good to see everyone is switching to Firefox.

From what i researched my site it’s not accesible enough, another point to the list of changes of this site, I think i’m just gonna follow the list of recommendations that Rick is showing to make a website.

I’m considering making a new logo for the site with new colors, probably that will be ok too.

So there you have, a list of new things i’m gonna do for this site. If you have more suggestions make them on the comments. Igual puedes escribir tus comentarios en español, como gustes.

Redesigning the site

Sunday, June 27th, 2004

As you can see the lack of updates on this site is because i’m doing the next new layout with more eye-candy, and some evaluations by myself, i’m about to finish the new layout of this site, following the trends of the web on this moments.

When i see the new layout, remembers me the fresh tableless layout of macromedia, of course this is not a rip from these guys…

Anyways, i’m gonna put a colophon (about this site) where i’m going to explain why i change the layout, why this color, why this type of layout and who i am… whatever you can see a lil of what it would be the new layout of the site, enjoy!

agkamai.com prerelease summer ‘04 layout

And remember kids, use Firefox to see correctly this page, don’t even think to use IE, it would be a punishment for you all IE users :D

Have a nice week.

Re: About your design

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2004
<p>So the other day was visiting a site who i find very interesting, you know, experiments with flash and stuff, so browsing thru <a href="http://flight404.com">Flight 404</a> i get some inspiration to do my next layout for this site and at the same time release the <em>NoteBook</em>. So i emailed this guy Robert Hodgin regarding for a permission to do a similar layout to his. So after writing this mail the next day i receive this:</p>

<p><em>Edmundo,</em><br />

You do not need anyone’s permission to make a website. You do not need authorization. You should not feel that you have to ask others for their blessing. You will do what you feel is right. Good luck to you.

<p><em>Robert</em></p>

<p>But the thing is if he really understand the idea or not, but whatever he wish me luck :P, so you have some of the details on the new layout, of course is not going to be the same fucking layout, i&#8217;m not a ripper but you know when the inspiration comes to you, you must take it, btw, i&#8217;m expecting for that event named <em>Tacos &#38; Blogs</em> on this Saturday, i really need to go out and meet new people, because i have 6 or more months without going out to have fun, well whatever, i think this is all for today, nothing interesting happened in the last days but steals on a <em>very important</em> shop center and a corrupt governor :)</p>
