Tea & Blogs 2 Review

Sunday, August 29th, 2004

Candidates for 2012 Olympiads

Tuesday, August 17th, 2004

August 15th, the five candidate cities had a conference with world press to let them know what are going to be the plans if they’re choosed to be the next city to host the 2012 olympiads. This time 5 cities are on the short-list to the bid: London, Madrid, Moscow, New York City and Paris

Another cities that applied to the bid were Istanbul, Leipzig, Rio de Janeiro and Havana. This is the 4th time that Istanbul is applying for the bid, but they stated that they’re gonna apply until they were selected. Havana, no comments, they just keep their plans on the dark and stuff, even there’s no any info available for the plans they have for this games, they stated that’s not fair they weren’t selected blaming the commercialism on the other cities. Rio was a shocking surprise not to be on the short-list, it think it must be they wanted concentrated on the Olympics and not in the forthcoming Panamerican Games in 2007. Leipzig wasn’t choosed because the Olympic Commitee stated that is too small for Olympics.

I think it would be a perfect choice to have the 2012 in Paris or Moscow, they have the infraestructure and the funds to make it.

The winner will be choosed on July 2005 in Singapore by the International Olympic Comitee.

Odd

Friday, August 13th, 2004

Just today i feel like every single day in this week very odd, i dunno why?. Last weeks were a total bunch of shit, but for some weird reason this one was kinda a little quiet and peaceful, very very peaceful. Is the fact i need more stress on my life of what? or is it just i’m becoming a workaholic? that’s i question i asked to myself everyday since this week… Everyone else feels like this way sometimes?

2 and a half hours until the big ceremony

Friday, August 13th, 2004

Well, today is Friday 13th August, considered by many people as a bad day. Like Alfredo is saying, those will have a very powerful symbolism and i think it would be some kind of tribute to the ancient age and its union with the modern age.

For the first time ever, the olympic comitee invited a DJ to play on the opening ceremony, and the honor was for DJ Tiësto who prepared a new set of songs especially created for this ceremony.

The order of the invited countries to this event are going to appear in a very particular order, is not going to follow the traditional Latin alphabet order, this time it will be based on the Greek one, don’t forget that the first country on appear will be Greece, just to keep the tradition of the founders of the olympics.

Not sure what time it will be on Athens, but the ceremony is going to start about 1OM GMT -6 (Central Time) at your favorite channel. By the way, the US people will not be able to see the event live, bummer.

agkamai.com for this September

Tuesday, August 10th, 2004

Well i got another plans on this site, and re-start to write again on Spanish just for fun, but this time the Spanish are going to be like a secondary language, so don’t expect so much posts on Spanish, since many people is bugging me to write again on this language i don’t have another choice than doing it, so expect content in this language.

Another point on this changelog i’m putting online is the fact to make more cross-browser this site, apparently my experiment of just making an anti-ie site worked, my stats indicates me that the 53.7% of my visitors use Firefox and the 35.6% just uses Internet Explorer just on July 2004, compared with another months where the average of use was, from IE of 60% and FF of 29.5%. Good to see everyone is switching to Firefox.

From what i researched my site it’s not accesible enough, another point to the list of changes of this site, I think i’m just gonna follow the list of recommendations that Rick is showing to make a website.

I’m considering making a new logo for the site with new colors, probably that will be ok too.

So there you have, a list of new things i’m gonna do for this site. If you have more suggestions make them on the comments.

Athens 2004 is so sold

Monday, August 9th, 2004

The organizers of Athens 2004 are warning to the spectators to not ever dare to give a sip to any Pepsi or a bite to a Burger King Whopper, so they will booted from the whatever event they are. Last week were published strict regulations where dictates that spectators may be refused admission to events if they are carrying food or drinks made by companies that did not see fit to sponsor the games.

Sweltering sports fans who seek refuge from the soaring temperatures with a soft drink other than one made by Coca-Cola will be told to leave the banned refreshment at the gates or be shut out. High on the list of blacklisted beverages is Pepsi, but even the wrong bottle of water could land spectators in trouble.”

Fans will be allowed into the Olympic complex if they are drinking Avra, a Greek mineral water owned by Coca-Cola, which paid $60 million US for the privilege of being one of the main sponsors. Officials are under orders not to let in rival brands’ bottles unless the labels are removed.”

Staff will also be on the lookout for T-shirts, hats and bags displaying the unwelcome logos of non-sponsors. Stewards have been trained to detect people who may be wearing merchandise from the sponsors’ rivals in the hope of catching the eyes of television audiences. Those arousing suspicion will be required to wear their T-shirts inside out.”

The main sponsors of the games have paid more than $1 billion in total for exclusive advertising rights and privileges, including the use of the Olympic logo under their brand names. It is not even possible to buy a ticket to the Olympics using a credit card other than Visa, which paid more than $30 million for its exclusive rights.”

So if i will prefer to pay any thing with my credit card which is not Visa, I will be immediatly booted from the place because i’m not even using the sponsor card. Well, i think the real spirit of tolerance and ideals of humanity in this games are gone.

Oh the humanity!!

Friday, August 6th, 2004

Ok, i think we have enough of this reality-shows, from ugly—the ugliest you can see on this earth—transformed by the arts of surgery, a group of homosexual men that change the dress-up of a heterosexual guy, a group of kids willing to be rich and famous singing very random songs, or a group of young people being filmed 24/7 to see their daily routines and many others.

Well, now this sick people is doing a new one, yeah, “Gana la verde”, that show who humiliates hispanic people. Instead giving cash prizes, changes of look or even fame, they offer “the opportunity” to get a green card. Yeah, a valued between $500 and $10000 USD legal counsel, but not guarantee of you will get “La verde” no, so at the end the person that wins the prize will be like the last person on contest who loses.

What is it like? Is just a few hundreds of contestants that are willing to eat burritos crammed with live worms, jump off high-speed trucks or wash skyscraper windows in exchange for a year’s legal help in speeding up their visa or green card cases.

A real shame, to create a false hope on this people, where are we going with this shows anyway?

Doom 3

Friday, August 6th, 2004

I think i have a word for this game “Whoa!!”, really amazing game and not to mention the graphics, a very great improvement since Quake 3. Of course, it has what the ID people offered, “to shit your pants off”, is so scary that game that i couldn’t play it for the rest of the night just for the frighten the game has. But yeah, you need a last generation PC for play it, a processor with at least 1500Mhz of velocity, 384MB of RAM, a 64MB nVidia or ATI videocard —not sure what models on ATI, but in nVidia geForce 3,MX,FX,6800— , 2 GB of disk space and Directx 9.0b.

Don’t worry Mac and Linux users, they will release a version for it’s current OS or Distro, don’t you remember the first demo was on a Apple G4? :)

Well anyway, if you’re willing to install Doom 3 on a low-end machine, i dunno P3 or P4 —lower than 1500Mhz— with less than 64MB of video memory, i don’t recommend it.

By the way, Doom 3 is considered the most pirated game ever.
