The 2004 best 5 albums

Following up the post from “ALT1040″:http://www.alt1040.com/archivo/2004/12/17/los_5_mejores_discos_del_2004, here’s the list of the 2004 best 5 albums, and of course the reasons why I chose those. I will really like to see the list of everyone else posted on the comments, and if you want, your reasons.

5 - Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes by TV on the Radio

Not so many people knows about TV on the Radio, but let me tell you something before I get bashed by everyone who hates this genre, it’s good to be open to any of these, even it has its shittier performers, like Pop. This album for example, is not for everyone, it’s for people who really enjoys the electronic music, and I’m not referring to the techno, trance or any other genre exclusevily for clubs. I’m referring more about the experimental genres. A good album to listen when you have nothing to do but relax.

4 - Medulla by Björk

Agaisnt all my feelings and many times saying to myself that this wasn’t so totally one of the best 2004 albums I heard, it’s really hard to ignore it, really. From the beggining to the end, you will only find voices and organical sounds, making part of what is a… song, who in some sort of way, makes totally sense. So there is, one of the most original pieces I ever heard, keep the good work, my sweet, little, Björk.

3 - Talkie Walkie by Air

This has to be the best electronic music album from this year, and it’s really worthed to listen to their previous albums, all apparently looks like it’s perfectly calculated and fits so well, everything. I guess, I can’t really explain what i said right now, but it’s a perfect piece of music, so electronic, so ambient, so my favorite kind of music.

2 - Good News For People Who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse

Hoobastank/Maroon 5/John Mayer fans go away, this is not your kind of album, and it’s nothing similar to any of those, and I must say that those three, I really hate them. Of course I knew about them for the song Float on, which has to be one of the catchiest songs ever, I think. But yeah in general, when you really, I mean, really, dig into this album, you will find a really good piece of music, that’s it. Oh yes, this is totally Indie Rock, so be aware.

1 - Antics by Interpol

I must confess that Interpol is my favorite band from these last years, when the first time I heard their album Turn on the bright lights, I was really impressed about the freshness of it, something I’ve never listened before, apart from The Strokes. Well now back to this album, I was really looking forward to this album, expecting it and else, and it didn’t dissapointed me. Of course, the first time, I must say, didn’t liked at all, but then, it growed on me, and I have to say, this is a must have, really, that’s why is in the numero uno.
